Well i'm very excited. I for one like the idea of GW 2 being more RPGish. And finnaly another fantasy based chapter comming, I think the culture base was kinda holding us back. And 40 armor sets, WOAH! Yeah, I'me PHSYCHED!

Oh BTW, Gaile. NEVER change that Avatar, it brings back memories of before release.

Guild Wars isn't starting to turn into the World of Warcraft.

It's going to become an actual MMO.

Regarding GW:EN, I'm suprised most of the stuff in the Inquirer is true. Very funny! And it did say that the races are playable, or not? Lemme go back...

And yeah, GW2 definantly sounds like it's going to be pay-to-play. Zinger already stated the costs of consistant worlds.

If the higher levels are just to show how long you've played this character it's fine with me. As long as there is no monthly fee it can't be THAT bad.

NO NO GAILE SAY IT AINT SO!!!!

Even though you can just play on a PvP toon I refuse to grind to a good lvl.
Since I refuse to grind I cannot play 1/2 of PvP. I very much like GW PvP. (its the only thing that keeps me addicted to GW). The reason I came to GW is because I heard there was very little grinding. If there will be grinding in GW2 why should I stay at GW?

I love you too Zinger. Still, it doesnt change the fact that Asuras won't be destroying the world as we know it....unless it's in the storyline.

Oh and still no monthly fee! Eat that Zinger!

I really think people ought to take a break on dissing all the time. I mean the thing is two years away and people just keep on ranting. I mean the game will be good no doubt it will be different from previous GW games but thats not necessarily bad. Have faith in the Anet team imo.
Another thing which pisses me off is why is every change to GW compared to WoW. They are obviously trying to different things here and lets give them a chance.

P.S--:the irony that this is a rant is not lost on me!!

To be honest I am a little excited about GW2. Although it sounds like there will be no support for GW1 once the sequel is released, but I really hope they'll keep making expansions/chapters/updates for GW1 for those who prefer that type of gameplay. But that could be a lot of work for Anet. @_@

That make no sense. Nothing is stopping ArenaNet from just playing WoW. Because almost every GW2 suggestion sounds like a WoW mimic.

GW2 won't beat WoW; nothing will. But if it's a bad game in itslf by being too similar or too different (i.e. Vanguard), it will die quickly.

EDIT: No monthly fees? Perhaps, if technology radically becomes more efficient in 2 years. But I think it's premature to say that there will absolutely be no monthly fee. Then again, I'm not an IT software engineer.

So many ignorant people in this thread. The level cap was killing Guild Wars in my opinion. It took a couple of days to reach the cap and then that was it. I like how in the stuctured PvP everyone is raised to the cap, though I wish you still had to unlock skills to use them.

Also just because they had added more freedom to the movement it's now a WoW clone? That is the silliest statement I have ever heard. Movement is horrible in Guild Wars. How many times had I wanted to jump over something or fall off a cliff and wasn't able to.

Guild Wars 2 seems to be adding many features I've been preaching MMOs to add. It looks like finally players will be able to interact and affect the world around them. Of course it sounds alot simpler then I hoped, but it is a step in the right direction.

All in all I am excited, though it seems we have a while to wait before we see anything new.

How does Anet plan to continue supporting the game without monthly fees and a non-instanced gaming environment? Chapters? Expansions?

So is Eye of the North the last chapter for Guild Wars 1?
What will this Eye of the North include?
When is the Release date for Guild Wars 2?
Can we carry over Characters from the first one?
Is there any Pictures in the new PC Gamer mag of the Eye of the North chapter?

Bah, the level cap at 20 MADE GW. You don't have to even worry about it. Get to level 20, then you really start to learn.

Guys, by hearing what you say, here is what i say :
Grow up! do you think Anet does stuff randomly, GW2 will be 100000x better and funner than the current guildwars, dont forget Anet has a profile for making really great MMO games, so dont think they will drop the guildwars spirit. everything that was announced was forseen. LVL20 cap is not an issue since the GW2 engine is a different one from the current game. SO STOP DOING THE PESSISMISTE ATTITUDE, you can disagree when you play the game not when the first ideas of it has come out. Gail tell the dev team A++ they are working hard and im waiting to see the next Guildwars chaper + GW2 .
PS: GW2 is coming out +2 years from now so we are real far.

Personally, I think this is all very exciting news. I'd love to see GW2 move into the arena of a full-fledged MMO type of game. The description of World PvP sounds very cool, just might get me to play PvP as well. With GW1, Anet designed a game that surprised everybody and broke away from the standard MMO approach, and I can only trust that they'll continue forward with the same creative zeal for GW2, even as they move toward something more familiar and accessible, at least on the surface anyway.

But for now, the Chapter 4 news is exciting in its own right. Subterranean network spanning all three continents? The Charr homeland? PvE-only skills? And the return of Gwen... all very cool stuff.

Such inspriing possibilites and ideas... thank you Anet!
